Mk7 Volkswagen Golf Seat Wiring Adapters
For those that have a Mk7 VW Golf, whether it is a Golf, Sportwagen, or an Alltrack, comfort and sportiness is something that is missing from the base model seats. For those that are fortunate enough to get their hands on a set of SEL, GTI, or R seats, they’ll find that while they do bolt in easily, the wiring does not always work since the plugs may be different.
I clearly love wiring adapters and making these stemmed from picking up a set of SEL seats for my own Alltrack S. These adapters make the swap super easy and your new seats will work just as they are supposed to: power adjustments, heating element, occupancy sensor, and airbags - with no errors.
There are two configurations that the Mk7s have:
Seats with a black 10 pin male connector and a black 2 pin male connector
Seats with a red 17 pin male connector
In order to make the proper harness for the swap that you are doing, please select the color of the connectors of the seats you are installing and the color of the connectors of the body harness in your car. Price is for ONE PAIR of two harnesses.
PLEASE NOTE: the majority of orders that I receive for these adapters come from the US, however, I have sent many to other regions in the UK and Europe. I have found that the passenger seat belt and occupancy wires for those regions are configured differently than the US. When ordering, please verify the passenger seat connectors: you should have one of THREE configurations:
Black 10 pin and a black 2 pin connectors
Black 10 pin and a black 4 pin connectors
Red 17 pin connector
Please verify both the vehicle’s body connectors AND the seats you are installing. Failure to verify this may result in receiving the incorrect adapter and additional costs to get you the correct one.
Please note that it may be necessary to swap the passenger seat airbag module from your existing seat and DO NOT key on the vehicle while a seat is unplugged: this will trigger an error and an airbag light in your instrument cluster that will NOT go away without a diagnostic tool to clear the fault.
